Royal Albion goes under new management with drinks deals – Reading Today Online

THE ROYAL Albion, Oxford Road, has changed hands and is launching its new weekly events with a live DJ.

The venue is celebrating its recent reopening with deals on beer, wine, cocktails, with DJ Killah Kutz performing on Friday, September 16.

Sean Peacock has taken over running the pub and says he is looking to bring it into the 21st century.

“I try to reach everyone in the community – right now we’re getting a really good response from locals, and that means a lot.

“This pub means a lot to a lot of people, there are some who have been coming their whole lives, and our audience here is so diverse.”

He is trained as a Rosette chef and promoter, and says he will bring his experience to the pub.

“We’re going to have a roast dinner, which will be by far the best in town, with good gravy and big Yorkshire puddings.

“But during the week I’ll be doing something more fun – dirty fries, sharing platters, and that sort of thing – and we’re hoping to open a cafe in the morning, but we’re still doing some renovations right now. moment. ”

He also says the pub’s tradition of live music will continue.

“We have a big package of live music coming up, with open mics so musicians can come and show off,

“But I also want to be able to guarantee people a paid gig and we can take care of them, because I believe in having this system, which a lot more venues should be doing.”

This support and welcome from artists will extend to bettors, with Sean saying: “The aim is also to meet the needs of women and couples.

“It’s important that they feel comfortable here and that there is a good atmosphere because if they can’t feel comfortable here, I have failed as a manager.”

The pub will offer karaoke on Fridays, with live music or DJs on Saturdays.

As well as live events, it is currently offering reduced prices, with all pints £2.50, cocktails £5 and a range of gins in its new gin bar.

DJ Killah Kutz will perform at the Royal Albion, Oxford Road, at 8pm on Friday September 16.
