Reopening of the old 400 club under new management

ROCKVILLE – An iconic supper club near Rockville that was closed for a few years is reopening under new management.

The old 400 Club on Pleasant Lake is reopening as Holly’s Lakeside Bar & Grill.

Owner and General Manager Marlene Mattei says they are in the process of renovating the interior and obtaining the necessary permits to open.

The Lakeside Bar will be opening softly from early to mid-August, with the bar serving drinks only. Mattei says they want to take advantage of the hot summer days by opening the bar and terrace while they do other renovations and get their kitchen ready.

Mattei says it will be a family business with the help of many family members as they seek to supplement their staff. It is aiming for a grand opening on September 1.

Mattei says the Lakeside Bar will offer appetizers and short-term menus, while the main dining room will be more refined with authentic Latin cuisine, European dishes and homemade pizzas. There will also be a lunch buffet seven days a week.

The original bar, she says, will be a more relaxed space than the sports bar with sofas and acoustic music on some nights.

Hours of operation will be 11:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m., with Lakeside Bar and the original bar potentially extending their opening hours to 2:00 a.m. in the future.

The business opened as Club 400 in 1938 and has a capacity of 450 people.
