HURON – The City of Huron Commission on Monday evening approved two street service purchases that will help with snow removal this winter.
City Engineer Brett Runge presented the evidence to the committee. The first was a 24ft tilting platform trailer to move the skid steer loader around town. Premier Equipment won the auction at $ 11,500 and the Commissioners approved the purchase.
The second item was the purchase of a new grader for $ 307,063.20 through Butler Machinery’s Sourcewell offering. Runge explained that the existing grader that is being replaced will be moved to the airport, and the current grader at the airport will be surplus.
Runge also applied for payment to Lot Pros LLC for the city-wide crack sealing for $ 35,000. It was approved.
Chief Financial Officer Paullyn Carey introduced the 2022 salary scale with a 4% cost of living and step increases for city employees. It was approved.
Two Memoranda of Understanding (MOU) were discussed with the commission by municipal lawyer Tucker Volesky. The MOUs added June 15 to the vacation schedule for AFSCME Local 169 and Fraternal Order of Police Section 3A in their respective contracts. The commission approved the two memoranda of understanding and authorized the mayor to sign both.
