Co-op issues urgent recall of popular products due to incorrect date labeling

Co-op has issued an urgent recall of some of its popular products.

It comes as the Food Standards Agency (FSA) said supermarket produce had been labeled with a ‘use by’ date of July 1, 2022 instead of June 1, 2022.

For this reason, its ‘risk statement’ states that the products ‘may therefore be unsafe to eat after the expiration date due to the risk of bacterial growth which could cause illness if eaten’.

In an effort to recall affected products that may have been purchased, point-of-sale notices will be posted at all retail stores selling the products.

The signs will also explain to customers why the products are being recalled and tell them what to do if they have purchased the products.

From now on, the FSA says that if you bought the products, don’t eat them and instead send them back to the nearest store for a full refund.

Dates were not labeled correctly.
