All God of War Ragnarok gear and special gear

[ad_1]

Special God of War Ragnarok gear needed to open new areas and clear obstacles is usually obtained as part of the main campaign path, granted to players upon reaching certain checkpoints and milestones. Obstacles range from blue circle symbol locks, to blue and red vines, yellow fissures, and strange “wind holes” – perforations in the rocks with a small swirling vortex emerging from them. All of them have a specific solution and special gear found in God of War Ragnarok to take them down, and we’ll cover what you need and how to get them below.

Since all of this special gear is tied to the game’s story, it can also be useful to know how long God of War Ragnarok is – check out our guide for more on that!

Minor spoilers for God of War Ragnarok to follow, but only those relevant to obtaining the special items and gear mentioned in the guide.

Do you want to combine your equipment with the best protection? Our God of War Ragnarok Best Armor list will help you find it!

Early on, you’ll start to see yellow and gold marks on some of the walls, cracked and clearly noticeable in some way. The special equipment needed to get through them won’t be here for a while – it’s a weapon called the Draupnir Spear obtained in the main story when Kratos and another ally are working to create a new weapon in Svartalfheim.

Once you have the spear, you can smash any object with that mark by throwing it into the mark so it turns red – then press Triangle to detonate the spear. Some items have multiple marks, which means you’ll have to put spears in all of those marks at once and detonate them simultaneously – doing them one at a time won’t work.

God of War Ragnarok’s Wind Holes Explained

Wind holes are small puncture cracks with constant air blowing out of them. Yeah, that’s not the ideal phrase, but we couldn’t think of anything more sketchy – and again, you’ll need the Draupnir Spear for that. Bow so you’re looking straight at the wind hole and throw your spear at it (there will be a yellow marker if you get the right angle). The spear will permanently embed itself in the hole, plugging it and serving as a bar that Kratos can climb or swing on, allowing him to access areas he previously couldn’t or acting as a shortcut.

It’s also worth mentioning that the spear is definitely the best item for hitting long range targets – if you’re having trouble bringing down one of those pesky God of War Ragnarok Ravens, this will help.

God of War Ragnarok Blue Circle Symbols Explained

These blue circle symbols look a bit like gongs, but they work like locks, very similar to the Valkyrie gates from the first game. In fact, Kratos will use the same chisel to open them – but it needs to be modified first.

Once you visit Vanaheim for the first time, you will be given a new teammate to work with, one who will enchant your chisel to be compatible with those blue locks. From there, when you come across one, interact with it and pull the chisel in the direction indicated to carve a rune, which your ally will then trigger when you press the Square button. This will activate the symbol and open a door somewhere in the area.

God of War Ragnarok’s Red Vines Explained

These red vines are similar to the blue ones, but Kratos’ chaos blades won’t be hot enough to burn through them on their own – at least not without help. The first time you enter Vanaheim, you’ll have early access to Runic Arrows, which drop purple spherical auras wherever they land. These auras amplify and spread any elemental attack Kratos lands within, causing the fire from the blades or ice from the ax to explode over a greater distance and with greater intensity.

Therefore, when you see the red vines, first shoot them with a runic arrow so that they start to glow, then hit them with the heavy ranged attack on your blades to ignite them and burn them properly.

God of War Ragnarok’s green metal explained

Upon reaching Svartalfheim for the first time – right after solving the God of War Ragnarok waterwheel block puzzle – you will see piles of metal surrounded by a green aura, usually shields, barriers and other trash, probably clogging your way to interesting-looking places. This green material is called the Sound Stone and it won’t bother you for long – after a few fights in the town of Nidavellir you’ll get the Sonic Bow and Arrows, which simply destroy any green Aura Sound Stone they come in contact with. contact. If you get stuck on that sort of thing, hit it with a sonic arrow to vaporize it. You can sometimes find barrels and other containers locked with sonic stone, so hit them with a sonic arrow to break them and get the extra loot inside.

God of War Ragnarok Celestial Altars and Bowls Explained

Found exclusively in Vanaheim, you’ll come across small gazebo-like structures built by giants with wolves on them, each with a layered metal bowl or font in the middle. These Jotnar constructs are actually called Celestial Altars and require a special item to use, specifically a green scepter you get after researching a pair of famous animals in Vanaheim. Bring it to any of the shrines/altars and you’ll have the option to interact with it – turning the whole of Vanaheim from day to night or vice versa. It’s not just an aesthetic change – some plants get bigger during the day, which means they’ll block certain paths or act as bridges connecting two areas, changing what’s accessible.

Of course, there are other gear that’s more contextual, serving a more general “key in the lock” function, such as the God of War Ragnarok Mystical Heirloom and Troll locations, where heirloom is used to activate very specific boss fights. .
